Lined Drawstring Gift Bag Kit – Set of 2 – Take & Make

Make the wrapping part of the gift. Sew two reusable, lined drawstring gift bags that add a personal touch to birthdays, holidays, and everyday surprises. Keep them for organizing small essentials or pass them along with something special inside.

Finished bag sizes

• One larger bag: approximately 12″ wide × 14″ tall
• One smaller bag: approximately 6″ wide × 12″ tall

Both bags are lined and close with drawstrings. No grommets are needed.

Bonus directions: make four unlined bags instead

Want more gift bags? Use the included bonus directions to turn the same fabric into four unlined bags instead of two lined bags. Enough cord is included for all four unlined bags, so no extra cord is needed for this option. Choose the version that suits your gifting plans; the fabric makes one option or the other, not both sets.

What's included

• Two coordinating ½-yard pieces of fabric (1 yard total) for the bags and linings
• Enough drawstring cord to make all four bags if you choose the unlined option
• Project directions, including instructions for cutting and sewing both lined bag sizes
• Bonus directions for making four unlined bags instead
• Directions for optional boxed corners as a final finishing step

Fabric is supplied as yardage, not precut pieces. You'll cut the project pieces using the included directions.

Optional finishing step: boxed corners

Keep your bags simple, or follow the included directions to add boxed corners as an optional final step. Boxed corners give the base more depth and shape; they are not required to complete the bags.

Skills to explore

Practice measuring and cutting, sewing seams, adding a lining, and creating a drawstring casing while making a useful pair of bags.

Thread and tools to have ready

Thread is not included. All-purpose sewing thread is recommended.

• Sewing machine
• Fabric scissors, measuring tool, and fabric-marking tool
• Pins or sewing clips
• Iron and pressing surface
• Safety pin or bodkin for threading the drawstrings

This is a sewing project kit, not a set of finished bags. Choose two lined bags or use the bonus directions to make four unlined bags. Gifts and other display items are not included.
