Parts of a Circle
Circumference - The circumference of a circle is the measure of the distance around the outside edge of a circle
Diameter - Diameter is the measure of the distance across the center of a circle. The diameter is equal to twice the measure of the radius
Radius - The radius of a circle is the distance from the center of the circle to the edge of the circle
When measuring your waist you are looking for the Circumference of your circle. Once you have your waist measurement you would add 2” then find the radius of the circle you want to make. To make your pattern you will use either a large piece of paper or a piece of pattern fabric to draw on, then select a starting point on the edge of your paper on a strait line using a ruler to plot your circle for your waist, to plot the circle for the bottom of the skirt add the radius from the waist measurement with the length that you want the skirt to be then plot the total for your next circle.
