4/6

For this class we are working on the first set of blocks that do not have the half square triangles

For the quilt to be 50 x 60 we will need 15 blocks total.

  • 7 blocks will be with fabrics A, E, F, and G
  • 8 blocks will be with A, B, C, and D

For the 7 blocks arrange the fabrics as follows for each row:

D <2.5"> A <6.5"> D <2.5">
A <2.5"> C <2.5> A <2.5"> C <2.5"> A <2.5">
A <4.5"> B <2.5"> A <4.5">
A <2.5"> C <2.5> A <2.5"> C <2.5"> A <2.5">
D <2.5"> A <6.5"> D <2.5">

For the 8 blocks arrange the fabrics as follows for each row:

    G <2.5"> A <6.5"> G <2.5">
    A <2.5"> F <2.5> A <2.5"> F <2.5"> A <2.5">
    A <4.5"> E <2.5"> A <4.5">
    A <2.5"> F <2.5> A <2.5"> F <2.5"> A <2.5">
    G <2.5"> A <6.5"> G <2.5">

To sew the blocks together start by sewing the fabrics in each row together using a 1/4 in seam

Next attach the rows together using the same 1/4 inch seam

Once the blocks are sewn together the 15 blocks should be 10.5 x 10.5 inches square

      4/13

For this class we are working on the first set of blocks that have the half square triangles

To start this block we will be needing our 3 in squares from fabrics A, I, J, K, L, and M

Pair fabric with right sides together as follows:

      • A - I
      • A - J
      • A - K
      • A - L
      • A - M
With the fabrics lined up together draw a diagonal line from one corner to the other
Pin the fabrics together and sew 1/4 inch away from both sides of the line
Once the fabrics are sewn together cut along the marked line to give you 2 half square triangles
To assemble the blocks we will be making mini blocks to start consisting of the half square triangles and the matching 2.5 inch squares along with Fabric A
